Teagan McGowan, standout performer at Queensland State Championships
Good Shepherd Aquatics had a large number of swimmers (17 swimmer in total) attend the Queensland Short Course Championships at Chandler swimming pool (Brisbane) on the weekend. Qualification to the event is difficult and is gained through qualifying times set by swimming Queensland for each stroke.
Simply qualifying for the Queensland state championships is a massive achievement in swimming as our state is recognised as one of the best areas in the world for swimming excellence.
Teagan McGowan was a standout performer at the event with Gold medals in the 50m Butterfly and 50m Backstroke plus 3 silver medals in 100m Backstroke, 50m Freestyle and 100m Butterfly. Teagan also broke the 11 year old girls QLD Record in the 50m Backstroke with a time of 30.74 seconds.
GSA swimmers achieved a total of 44 Personal Bests showing the effort that they all put in.
Arna Couper got 4 Bronze medals in the 50m Butterfly, 400m Freestyle, 200m Backstroke and 200m Individual Medley.
Lauren Maguire got 2 Bronze medals in the 800m and 400m Freestyle.
Fyn Sharpley got a Bronze in the 50m Freestyle.
GSA achieved a total of 12 medals for the 3 day meet.
