Your first carnival checklist

Hi Everyone

With a few families attending their first carnival, I thought it might be worth sending an email out about how things work on the day just so that you are prepared! It’s great that so many of the younger members will be racing for the first time and I am sure they will all have lots of fun

Club Tent
We will take a pop up tent with us and put it up as close to the pool as possible. I haven’t been to Cooroy pool before but my understanding is that there isn’t much room around it so space will be at a premium. I’ve been in touch with the committee there and we could go up before 6.00pm on Friday and put it up, if not early on Saturday morning. If I pick the tent up from Peter on Friday afternoon, would a couple of people be able to meet me at Cooroy on Friday at say 5.30pm to help me put it up? If not it will have to be on Saturday but I will need help due to Brian being out of action after his knee surgery

Seating
There isn’t any seating there so it is worth taking a picnic chair to sit on and maybe some picnic rugs for the swimmers.

Time Keeping
At most carnivals, each swim club is allocated a lane and they need to provide time keepers throughout the event. Parents generally do around an hour each (depending on how many parents are there and how many time slots we need to fill) with two parents at any one time so please be prepared to put your hand up and help. There will always be enough adults around to help any little ones get ready for races if their parent is time keep when they are being marshalled.

Food
I believe that there was a BBQ at Cooroy last year but it’s always good to pack lots of energy filled goodies for the day and to take lots of water

Swim Caps
I’ll pop to the club tomorrow and will collect a few spare caps in case your swimmer hasn’t got one yet and will bring them with me on Saturday morning

See you all on Saturday
